Our Needful Things is an intimate one-on-one experience that has been developed in response to crisis relief recommendations from the World Food Programme (WFP) and the World Health Organisation. It explores the concept of ‘need’ in contemporary culture through a task-based dramaturgy. It offers the audience an opportunity to reconsider their own experience of needs which are juxtaposed against the perception of the needs of refugees. It provokes the participants to think about what it means to have a need and what the implications are of fulfilling it.

There are only 3 choices; 3 decisions. What is it that you really need?

ONT was premiered as part of Journeys Festival International 2016 in the Container Project, Portsmouth.

The experience for each audience participant lasts approximately 30 minutes. It explores the basic human needs of libation, cessation and nourishment. The participants are invited to engage in negotiation, commit acts and partake in ritualised tasks all constructed to attempt to satisfy those three basic needs.
